Welcome to Englewood School! My name is Kristi Darnell. I am blessed to be the principal of this wonderful school! I have grown up in this community and in Englewood School. I was a student of Englewood School from K-8th grade. After graduating from University of Tennessee Chattanooga, I became a teacher at Englewood School, teaching 2nd grade and 7th and 8th grade math and algebra. I later entered administration as the assistant principal of Englewood and several years later accepted the head principal position. Englewood had truly always been a part of my life!
A little bit about myself. As I said before, I grew up in Englewood on a farm. I loved that life and still live on the family farm today, with my twin daughters Kennedy and Kampbell who are 13. I have a Masters Degree and Educational Specialist Degree from Tennessee Tech in Instructional Leadership. I attend Zion Hill Baptist Church. My favorite pastimes are spending time with my family and friends, cheering for our local teams and of course the UT Vols, and exercising. My children are the highlight of my life! I know this is how all parents feel, and I feel a great sense of responsibility to my job to make sure I give my best for every child every day.
Englewood School is a community centered school. We are blessed with a very active community that supports our school unconditionally! This is evidenced in our huge turnouts for our carnival, school games, and supports in fundraisers. Our community also supports our school academically. Through our joint efforts, Englewood School has maintained a level 5 status for the last 5 years. Additionally, we have been recognized by the Tennessee Department of Education as a Reward School for student growth for two years! This is a great honor! This means all our students, regardless of their academic ability are growing. Our teachers are meeting their own individual needs and making sure each student progresses.
Our goal is to provide the education students need to succeed and become productive citizen for their future success. We believe that when students leave our school they have a firm foundation to support this future success.
